Quite possibly one of the best street/ even some strip dual plane intake made for small block chevys.

If you agree, and there is an Advance Auto parts near you, they carry it for a while. Holley is discontinued them, whats out there is it.

Here is the kicker..Advance is selling them for 89.95 each. NO, I dont work there, I needed a new distributor, they sold the accel 59107C for 124.00, thought that was a steal and saw the Holley there.

Had them call around and get 2 more.

So if you like them, or want to try one, this is 45.00 cheaper than what I paid at Summit two years ago, I know they were on sale for 100.00 last year in Summit, but any high rise dual plane under 90.00 is a steal.

Its a damn good product and versatile on all motors, personally love it hands down over the RPM. Better low end off it. Out of box, it does need some finessing in the runner ports to smooth it out, but great deal.

Just thought I would share my find. Advance is new to Houston, but do carry alot of performance stuff, even some Voodoo cams, MSD stuff, nice store and the employees actually knew a few things, for around HERE, that is a HUGE deal.

Thanks for letting us know. It is arguably the best designed dual planes for SBC. Based off the Z28 aluminum intake. I love em. I already have a 300-36 Street Dominator in my garage and have my old Contender on a buddies car for the moment. I'm definately off to Adavance to pick one more up tomorrow :) Collectors item? Nope, they kick @$$ and you never know when your going to need another one.

Do you know why their discontinuning them? Everyone buying the Eddy RPM instead or maybe a new design coming out?

Just my personal guess, but I think they are slowly transitioning the intake manifold product line away from the Holley brand name and into the Weiand brand name (Holley owns Weiand). Couple examples why I think that's happening:

1. There used to be the Holley 142 blower and the Wieand 144 blower. Now they're both sold under the Weiand brand name.

2. All the new intake manifold designs to compete with the Edlebrock Performer line are sold as Weiand intakes (Action+Plus, Steath and Stealth Air Gap, including all the new Vortec-style intakes. All of them are "clean sheet" designs, not re-badged older intakes).

Damon is right, the Weiand 8150 is supposed to be the 300-36 replacement.

Maybe the marketing shows people dont associate the name "Holley" with intakes, just carbs..and jump on "Weiand"

Alot of people dont know about their heads either, which arent half bad at all, actually good street heads.

Wow...$89????...I would agree that it is the best all-around intake ever made for a small block...

For those that don't like the big "E" brand of manifolds, the 300-36 is arguably one of the best street / performance intakes. A good medium to high rise with good torque and reasonable rpm range, you can't go wrong with this intake.

As others stated above, this is a good copy of the GM Winters Z/28 LT-1 intake and in some cases, even better! Especially if you want to modify it and not ruin an original GM intake!

Price is very, very good and tough to beat!

Ive owned a few of these. Worked great on a 327 and is now on my 350. Just got a new one off Ebay for $85 bucks a few months ago as a company was getting rid of thier inventory. So now I know why.

Just did a search on this topic, but figured I'd ask here...........how can you visually differentiate between the 300-36, and the other "contender" models from Holley...........I got a guy who's selling parts locally, and he is selling a Holley "Contender", but he doesn't know which one it is.

Can I tell by looking.........is there a difference in the firing order, casting # maybe? Or is the part # ANYWHERE on the intake manifold.

thanks,
JC

The number 300-36 should be cast on the underside of the manifold.

The 300-36 was also cast with the "Contender II" on the front runners in front of the carb pad.

Most of the of the manifolds I've seen also have a "waffle" pattern on the back part of the manifold between the carb pad and the distributor boss.

Other then that, it will look almost identical to the 'GM / Chevy Factory '69-72 Z/28 dual plane intake manifold.

Doug said that Holley is now putting their intake money into the Weiand brands and letting the Holley brand handle the fuel end of their product like!

I figure that Holley is making a mistake by canning it!!

And I have a new one in the box in my bedroom closet along w/ a solid lifter cam and all my head stuff just for my next junk301 motor!

Now, just to find some cheap 3" stroked, 4.00" pistons!!

PS., and fwiw, the old 300-36 is a TRUE high-rise, dual plane intake b/c it is like 1.25" taller than the stock Q-Jet, Performer and RPM!!!

The Holley 300-36 I have has "Street Dominator" cast in front of the carb mounting flange. I bought it new back in 1998. "300-36" is cast on the bottom.

I agree that it is the best small block intake...big plenum and runners...significantly bigger than the rpm or air gap

Well, turns out it was the 300-38; guy called me back to let me know.

The 300-36 is what I really want, and they're not easy to find. I know there's a few of them on EBAY, but they go for way more than they should. I'm always looking for a bargain.

Maybe I should just hold off and go with one of their SYSTEMAX II combos which includes a full H/C/I build up for about $1700.
