Hey guys,
I just installed a new Edelbrock 1406 and the car turns over, fires once, and then just dies. I am not sure what is going on, the pump has fuel to the carb now but I still can't get it to fire over for a second before it stops all together. Any ideas?

A lot of the time when an Edelbrock carb is shipped or stored for a long period of time the floats stick or the needles stick in the seats. First try tapping I mean gently tapping the top of the carb with the handle of a screwdriver. This is recommended in the manual and works sometimes.
Also Edelbrock carbs like fuel pressure of no more than 5.5 psi. Too much floods them rather easy.
If thats not the problem you might want to:
If not you need to determine what is going on. Does the carb squirt fuel or is it dry?
Is the carb flooding to the point of no fire?
Did anything misc get disturbed during the switch. Like ground wires for ignition, the distributor wires soundly plugged in etc.
If you have to go inside the carb to adjust the floats a critical part on the Edelbrock carbs be careful. After removing the outside linkage pieces and removing the step up rods springs and plungers, you can remove the screws from the top of the carb. Be very gentle lifting off the lid, the floats extend through the thin and easily damaged gasket. If you do not have a spare gasket and you damage it you are done. With minor care you can remove it sucessfully. Check that the flots are adjusted properly (use the manual it works web page has it to if you lost the manual) and check for free movement of the needles in the seats.
Just a few ideas hope it helps keep us up to date.
