I was at a speed shop today to get some ARP moly lube so I could finish up my engine. They didn't have any but they said that Edelbrock's cam break-in lube PN#9260 is moly disulfide. Apparently the same thing as ARP moly lube.

Does anybody have and reason to doubt this?

Are you using this as break-in lube, or lube for threads?
If its break in lube- that is fine for the Edelbrock stuff.
If you are lubing threads it will effect torque specs

I was planning to use it for torquing head bolts. I called up Edelbrock and they said its not moly based. I'll have to keep looking for some ARP moly lube.

If you are torquing head bolts you most definitly do NOT want lube. You want THREAD SEALER. ARP makes lube and sealer - two different things. The Thread sealer is used on wet holes, like head bolt holes that go into the water jacket, and lube on things like rod bolts that don't enter a water jacket. If you don't use sealer you are running a serious risk of having water it is NOT supposed to be - like in your oil.

Trainman is right.

Permatex teflon thread sealer (the white stuff) works fine. APR's isn't any different.

Yes I know all that. I'm using the lube on the washer and the head of the bolt, not on the threads. I'm using ultra-black on the threads. I should have clarified.

A little daub of good old Permatex, "Indianhead Shellac Gasket Cement", in the shoe polish dauber bottle on each head bolt!!

Put a daub on the threads and a schosh under each head b/c it's gonna end up there anyway AND you will be fine!!
