Hello, I have a general question that maybe someone might be able to answer. A couple of friends of mine are mechanics and highly recommend the use of seafoam usually around every oil change. I use it on all my cars. With the older vehicles, usually i'll a little in through the carb and watch all the carbon burn out. On my newer car (only have 1 new car which is a saturn sc2) I put in a pint in the gas tank, and half a pint mixed in with the oil. This shit does do wonders. I am getting about an additional 30 miles on a full tank, and some hesitation has since went away. My question is that one of my non-mechanic friend who is mechanically inclided stated that I should not use seafoam after an oil change like I do now as he states that all the crap that it burns out will stay in the oil and thin it out. Is there truth to this? Should I change the oil that's in there now? It only has like 250 miles on it. Thanks

I use good old Marvel Mystery Oil to do what you are using the Seafoam for.
A half a small bottle in with an oil/filter change and the rest in the gas tank at the next fill-up.
I don't use it all the time, but say every third oil change.
MMO is a great old-fashioned "Top-Oil" that to me does what the back of the bottle says it is supposed to do!! Bardahl is another old "Top-Oil" too if it is still around??
I have used it off and on since I was a pup after an old Mechanic told me about using it to unstick some rings in an old car that had sat for a fairly long time! Worked like a top!!

PDQ, did you use it before you changed the oil, or after?

I added half a small bottle of MMO on top of a full fresh oil change and drove her easy for a half tank of gas.
I have used Seafoam to rid my '87, Corn-popper of a REALLY BAD dose of bad/watered gasoline one time AND it took two cans and a couple of new tanks of fuel, plus commmuting to purge her good!
(Boy did it scare me b/c I thought the carb. went bad and the As--holes wanted, like $600 for a carb for a 3-banger Chevy Sprint ER!!! $300 for a kit!! Get real.....).........
The Seafoam did great, imho..

Just a note of caution on Marvel Mystery oil; Seafoam and others may be the same. I've had it gel and clog the fuel filter if I left in the tank while in winter storage. I have not had any problem by putting it in the tank and driving. It may just be my bad experience, but I've had it.
