I have a set of these spacers so I can run a factory chevy valve cover with my valvetrain set-up. Question is what is the recommended gasket I need to use on the head surface, and would you recommend studs or bolts to hold the whole set-up down. If you have pictures of these installed on a big block please post up I have never put one of these together before.

Thanks, Jake.

I like the simple and cheap cork gaskets, they've worked fine for me. I use studs on my SBC, they hold everything in place when I slide the covers on.

Heres a pic of our installed spacers. We used cork on the head and v/c surfaces and used bolts with hold downs. We would have and I'd rather have used studs but it was impossible on the drivers side because of brake booster clearance on this car.

Smokin are those the B&B cast version, or the newer billet ones. My repop stock valvecover holes dont line up very well with the B&B cast ones.

I got away with doubling the gaskets, (rubber) and siliconing them together. I had to bend the tip of the drippers to not come down on the poly locks.

Those are Taylor wires. Have the red set on my 454 too.

They are the cast B&B. They're not too off that it causes a problem. I would have to say the billet ones are nice pieces though. We went with these because they were sitting right in front of us and didn't want to wait around for the billets to arrive.

I didn't find any valve cover spacers when I installed my BB GM covers so I cut a set of rubber & cord belting that works for hight temp and oil sealing it clears the the Crane rockers with posi nuts, a local machine shop said he could make a pair out off aluminum for $400.00 1/2" - 3/4" thick. may try them another time the home made ones seem to work fine and no leaks

I just picked up two sets of BBC billit rail fabricated tall valve covers from skip white racing in east Tenn. They are very nice and dirt cheap as billit rail fabbed covers go. They have two styles the moroso long bolt style and the regular short bolt or stud style so I decided to pick up one of each to see which I liked better on my engine. I picked up both sets for less than a single set of moroso fabbed covers. They clear my comp roller rockers and dart stud girdle on my pro one heads so they should clear just about any valvetrain set up.
By the way they both look awesome.
