I got them in. Not without a fight... but eventually she loosened up and they slid right into place. Buttery. :innocent:
The pass side was a nightmare, as usual. I had to lift the motor up off the mounts, push it to the driver side, drop the exhaust pipes down onto the floor, bend the brake line up onto the top of the motor cradle, start a bolt into a hole not meant for that purpose, then drop the motor down and wrestle the other bolts in.
I do still have one question though - RE the brake line. The #4 cylinder tube is very nearly touching the subframe just behind the upper A arm. There was zero clearance with the brake line, and it's still very close to the header tube. What can I/should I do about this?
The driver side was a joke. SO easy.

nah, it's a small block. the clearance issue is header vs front subframe cross-bar under the motor. I know, hard to explain. I'll take a pic tonight.

did you change the motor mount?? sounds like you got worn out mounts.
i got the same set of headers and had none of these problems.

I just installed a set of these this winter & yes they were tight to the brake line. I just used a large screwdriver & rebent the brake line to get some clearance.

Hey Skaal, can you take a pic of the other side, just curious where they drop on that side.

I have never had to lift the engine to get my 1 3/4 super comps in. Just had to jack the car WAY up in the air and put them in from the bottom. Yes I had probablems with brake line clearance too. I just unhooked the brake line from its mount and bent it to ride on top of the cross member.

My son and I installed them on his Camaro a couple months ago. The driver's side had to go in from the bottom and we put the passenger side in that way too.
The brake line is close but we were able to coax a little more clearance out of it too.
Use tall jackstands in front and short ones under the rear axle housing.

ah didn't think to put the pass side in from the bottom.
Driver side was really really really easy though. I laughed.
