When I remove my charcoal canister, what do I do with the line coming from the top of the tank?

when i did that, i was told to keep it open as it is a vent for the gas tank. Although i heard of some people plugging it because aftermartet fuel senders dont have the second line. But it has no problem on my car unplugged

I just remembered, in hot weather i was told by my friend the tank may pressurize from heat, prob not a good idea to plug it

I'm in the same boat. One member put a K&N Air Filter on the end of his line and yanked his Canister out. I on the other hand had to get the aftermarket sending unit with 1 hose coming out. I yanked my Canister out and using a Vented Gas Cap.

The expanding tank isn't all that bad. New vehicles are designed to have the tank pressurize. That is why if the gas cap is loose the check engine light comes on.

I thought they pulled a slight vacuum on the tank through the charcoal cannister so that any slight leaks at the gascap would result in air in the tank, not gas fumes outside?
I know a loose gas cap will turn on the check engine light though.

Really, why pull the cannister though - all it does is put some gas fumes into the engine when it is running, and prevents them from escaping to the atmosphere. I really don't see a downside for performance.

I have mine out right now, but will replace it. Today I had to pull the intake and when I went to unhooked the fuel line the pressure was unreal until I cracked the gas cap. I am almost empty in the tank with about 1-2 gallons of gas. this kind of pressure could easily push the needle of the seat in the carb.

Mine had been removed when I bought the car, and had a vacuum cap put on that line. The tank would build up so much pressure that it would almost knock the cap out of my hand when I took it off to put gas in. I took the vacuum cap off and put on the smallest K&N filter over it.
