I have a 2bbl 350, whats the typical mpg for one? I know it will be pretty low. The car has been sitting since I was born so I have never been able to test it to see.

With out knowing what kind of car, transmission, gearing, or what kind of condition it's in it's hard to say, but probably 12-14 in town and 15-18 highway.

Its a 74, 350 Turbo trans, stock rear end, and in very good condition

Thats the same setup my 74 has. Id say on average its about 13mpg. But some weeks, its just plain horrible, while some weeks it seems closer to 18 or so (combined city and highway). I think my sending unit or gas gauge isnt very accurate, which only confuses things. whenever i remember to calclulate the mpg (gallons/miles driven) it usually turns out to be about 13mpg.

Ouch! If you get 13 with the stock 350 I don't feel so bad about my 12 MPG with a big block LOL.

With combined driving I get anywhere from 13-18 MPG depening on how rough I drive it.

Norm. avg for my is about 15 mpg though.

This is my 88 camaro with a 355 engine, 10.18:1 comression, 3.42 gears, 2800 stall, th-400 trans. Not much left stock to the whole car lol.

My dad's old jeep with 360 and 2bbl would get about 14 city, 17 highway

My camaro with 383, 4bbl, 3.42 gear, Th350, 2400 converter, I got about 12 mpg highway cruising at 70-80, about 3200-3500 rpm.

'76 LT, 355, 9:1, 2.73 gears, TH350 (well worn) combo driving no better than 13. but that includes a few stomped launches.

damn, my 79 has a 305 with a cam upgrade and holley carb, even with it leaned out i only get 11-12mpg

yeah i get bad gas milage on my 305 iwth a 2bll.. somthens wrong.. i figured its well worth it to upgrade to a modern type 350, with vortecs, and a 700r4 with a lockup TC, also i already have 2.73 rear gears.. i should be able to pump out above 20 to 25 mpg hopefully.

I have a 307 in my 72 and it only gets about 12. Then again that includes alot more than a few hard pedal stomps. http://www.nastyz28.com/ubb/smile.gif

I get around 12 with my 406/Qjet combo and mild roller cam. 3.42 gears. That's if I'm very easy on the gas too! The bad thing with the '70s cars was that the timing curve was too slow and there wasn't enough timing. Also, a Qjet will get better mileage than the 2GC 2 barrel, simply because a Qjet has the tiniest of primaries to cruise on, plus they have triple booster venturis. If I were you, I'd at least switch over to a cheap stock Qjet and intake, and have the timing redone so it's all in by around 2800 with a total of 34-36. It will be peppy and get good mileage!!

I just checked my mileage from a 230 mile trip I made yester day to a BBQ held by a member here and then over to a car cruz in.

15.442 MPG

This was surface street driving, alot of 2 lane roads, some 4 lane roads, alot of starts and stops. Plus I played alittle bit.

I get 24 mpg out of my 93 Z34. I told my wife if I can get close to that with the 69, I'm gonna drive it and sell the Lumina. I spend 90 minutes every day driving so it might as well be in something I like.

So far, I've got a 3.08 geared 12 bolt with a built 700R4. I've got an empty short block (0014 casting) that looks like it's gonna need to go to .060

I had planned on going 600 cfm Edel. with performer intake & cam kit but still looking for heads. (hmmmm vortec?)
Had a mushroomed valve stem due to mismatched guides on my 186 cast 2.02 heads, so I tore it all down (found a crack in one head). Fresh turned 350 crank.

What can I do to get the most mpg?

I just put in a tremec 5 speed and then took a cross country trip from boston to L.A. and was getting about 20-25mpg on the highway. Thats with a 383, TKO500, and 3.08 rear gears. I loved it since I was getting 13mpg before I put the overdrive in. Anyways, I think it was well worth the money I put into it. Hope that helps a bit.
