I am building my 383 and need new pushrods. Motor is nothing crazy with a XE274 hydraulic flat tappet. Dished piston for 9.7-1 comp ratio. Looking for pushrod to get the job done reliably. Something hardened for use with guideplates. No boost or spray on this motor. Its a driver and will be taken to about 6000rpm. What do you guys recommend?

Summit sells some $25 cheapies that actually work real well! They're hardened for use with guideplates, the wall thickness is a little more than stock for strength, the ball ends are welded on (not a one-piece design, unfortunately) and they come in stock and +.100 lengths. I've used them in several engines with hydraulic flat tappet cams operating under 6500 and have had ZERO issues with them. They're tough little buggers for almost no money. In fact, they're my go-to sticks for mild street performance engines like what you have planned.

I'm with Damon.. I really like the summit pushrods.

Use them in my engine. Great pushrods for the money.

Well well, here we are again night rider http://www.nastyz28.com/ubb/wink.gif Up before 4 am! LOL

Summit does stock a nice pushrod. For some reason though my past few sets have been Compcams, but NO more! Only reason I went with Comp this time is cause I went with a retrofit roller cam and they were the best deal.

Damon's suggestion sounds better then mine.... I usually buy mine from Competition Products for $49.95. They are:

1) Seamless 4130 Aircraft Chromemoly
2) One-piece tube.
3) .075" Wall.
4) Special heat treading.

For +.100" they are $59.95.

They have a couple cheaper one's at $29.95 and $38.95.

Check out Midwest Motorsports line of inexpensive pushrods..

They come in several different lengths.

I figure if they are good enough for roundy-round use, they should do fine, imho..
