Anyone know anywhere where I can buy the flywheel dust cover for my 78 camaro. My car came without it and the only ones I can find are either for automatics or earlier model camaros. I got a 350 with factory 4 speed.

I ran my car stick car w/o one for years fine!! Otherwise look to D&R, Rick's, Year One, NPD, The Paddock and others.. pdq67 74RAT 05-26-2007, 10:47:14 AM ran without one for years also. cmonson 05-26-2007, 12:23:36 PM I don't have one as well. I had an issue a couple of years ago though. I had a rear seal leaking oil, and it sprayed over the flywheel and thus got over the clutch. I had a wicked shimy when taking off. I had to replace the clutch, presure plate, piolot, ect. I correct the leak and replaced the clutch and components, AND I still don't have the inspection cover. I have NOT had any issues since I corrected the oil leak. rindoze 05-26-2007, 02:59:43 PM reaon I want one is that I just pulled my pan off thinking my engine was about to explode cause I heard a nasty clanking noise. Turned out some metal crap was bouncing around inside the bellhousing. Haven't pulled the bellhousing to check if it was something coming apart in there but the piece didn't look like anything I've ever seen before. rindoze 05-26-2007, 03:02:23 PM Still can't find a cover though 71 Camaro 05-26-2007, 08:53:01 PM Why? ROFL! Keep driving without one and you'll find out! Ever run over a chunk of crap on the road? Just think what would happen if you or somebody else bounced a hunk of pavement or other hard object up into your spinning flywheel! Little Naples 05-27-2007, 12:04:33 AM Why? ROFL! Keep driving without one and you'll find out! Ever run over a chunk of crap on the road? Just think what would happen if you or somebody else bounced a hunk of pavement or other hard object up into your spinning flywheel! Absolutely right. There's a lot of junk on the roads. Even a small rock can do damage to your car or someone else. A small rock bouncing off a flywheel would take off like a bullet. cmonson 05-27-2007, 08:44:48 AM let me know if anyone knows where to find one for an 80 (not that it matters), but with a small block (350) and a saginaw 4 speed. HOGDADDY 05-27-2007, 11:25:24 PM What about running thru a large puddle of water w/o cover seems that this would also have negative effects in this case? |
