Anyone ever done this with the engine assembled on a stand? One bolt at a time?

i think you "should" get the rod resized when you change a bolt/bolts..ive never done it since this is what i always heard

are you going from stock back to stock,or stock to arp?

i know if going from stock to arp your going to have to resize the rods

Yes, most definatly get the rod resized. Once you replace the bolt it will have changed the "roundness" of the bearing seat. I would reccommend taking it out first because they are pressed in and it will be a trick to get the old one out, not to mention getting the new one in.

Well i accidentally over torqued 4 rods so i know the bolts are trash. I could just go stock to stock if its less trouble? I just pain to have the darn rods re-sized!

just curious, how much did you overtorque them?

ive changed stock rod bolts before but it was a long time ago.if i remember correctly you can get the threads to come though just enough to get the nut on so you can pull it through,IIRC.

The problem with different rod bolts (ARP wave locks are ABSOLUTELY the WORST!!) is they will/can shift the rod cap in relation to the rod. I suggest you pull the 4 damaged rods out and have new stock bolts installed and resize them.

I accidentally went to 65 lbs, one broke! Thats when we realized I was over torquing them.

Rust- the reason you hate WaveLocs is exactly the reason I swear by them. Yes, stuff moves around when you install them but once that's been corrected it stays put forever.

Yeah but it sure is a PITA to separate the cap from the rod, and installing the bolts into the rod itself can take quite a few TONS of force.
