Has any one ever installed a 600 edelebrock on a stock GM intake using a 4 hole spacer plate.Three years ago when I first restored my 80 Z I installed a 600 edelbrock carb on my 350 GM intake using a spacer plate and I also installed the same carb on my 1977 Lemans with a 305 using an edelebrock performer intake. At that time I couldn't figure out why I was getting this ongodly sucking sound down the car of my Z and at the same time I would only get a mild moan out of the lemans which was a normal sound .I just installed my factory engine today after 2 years of playing with my vortec head 355 and I installed the same type of carb only newer and here is that dam deep sucking sound down the throat of the carb.Could it be the spacer plate Gm combo or the GM intake ?

is the sucking sound a little louder this time?Likely the sound of your hard earned $$$ going in.We all here it.The moaning sound?could be you.
Sorry,couldn't help myself.

Knuckle I got tired of spending my hard earned dollars so I sold my power plant and I am putting car back to stock specs except the 342's go as they were only good for 14 mpg new and I replaced them with 308's.I am going to try an open style spacer .
