This is for sale and says that it was hot tanked and shot peened. Should it still have rust on it?

depends on how long ago it was tanked. Chemical makes em' rust.

Lack of oil or protectant on the bare metal will prematurely cause it to rust (oxidize). It looks in pretty decent shape though, but it will need to be cleaned up again.

Its a 2 bolt main. How much HP/Torque can they handle? I was looking to go in the neighborhood of 550hp.

i've read that the blocks will handle 600hp if you stud the mains.

That fourth journal is only a 1 bolt main. :D

make sure the rust spots don't have any pitting,it can make a pinhole in the cylinder wall. ask me how i know!

I have a friend running 700+ on a two bolt main bbc. Been running it for several years without an issue.
