I have current all the way to the coil and into the distributor - no fire though. The neighbor came over and was holding the coil in one hand and the end of the coil wire (to the dist cap) in the other, he got shocked when I put the rotor on the dist. I put the dist cap back on and it jumped spark from the coil wire to the block only one spark when I turned the engine over.

I have an Accel Billetproof electronic distributor with an external coil. Does the coil have to be bolted to the firewall to give me enough ground for fire? I have the ground wire from the distributor tightened under a valve cover bolt. Test light comes on everywhere it should.

I'm trying to start it for the first time and this is tapping me out!
