Well my dad had a 327 in his 68 z28 until he pulled it to drop in a real 302. He said that I could put it in my 71 camaro but it leaked. I was told that I needed to basically take the whole motor apart and redo all the gaskets.

I was looking through summit and jegs and I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good gasket kit that would come with everything that I'd ever need.

Thanks,
Dennis.

Fel-Pro makes a kit that basically fits every 4" bore small block made before 1985.... http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?part=FEL%2DKS2600&view=32&N=700+115

Should have everything you need. However I have always bought one of these kits and thrown the head gaskets, intake gaskets, and exhaust gaskets out and replaced with high performance gaskets specific to what I was doing.

Also the newer 1 piece oil pan gaskets are supposed to be a lot nicer and easier to use than the old 4 piece style that comes with the kit.

If this is your first time doing this stuff I would suggest getting David Vizard's "how to rebuild small block chevy's" and read that.

Use either Fel-pro, #1094, .015" thick rubber coated shims OR Mr. Gasket .020" thick steel shims like stock to gain a schosh more CR. is all.....

That set should work fine too.

It used to bethat the cheap gasket set for like $30 or so was fine, but i don't know if they exist today??

Try here.....................

And again, I didn't use the composite headgaskets and bought a pair of .020" thick Mr. Gasket steel shims for like $18 or so..

Try Northern Auto Parts. They have the best price on 4" bore SBC stuff.
