400 1970-72 4.126 4 bolt
400 1973-80 4.126 2 bolt
i have a 1978 suburban with a 400. it is the original engine and a 3951509 block.
does the info above mean 4 bolt 400's were only made in 1970-1972 and the 1973-1980 400's were ALL 2 bolt mains? the guy i got it from said he changed the pan gasket and it was a 2 bolt main, but he is a bit of a redneck shadetree type and i don't exactly trust his judgement, since he said the frame on the truck was nice and its about to crumble from rot.
