Good day to you all.
I have a couple of questions regarding the carb that I need to get for my Vortec enjine.
I am installing a Edelbrock Performer RPM Air-Gap intake manifold and want to know what is the best carburettor to get. I have been looking at two options, but can't really see why some would say the one is better than the other. Also I just need to mention that everything else is stock on the enjine (350/5.7l)
The two carburetors I am looking at is either the Edelbrock Performer 600cfm or the Edelbrock Thunder Series AVS 650 cfm. The only thing that bugs me a bit after some people told me its better to go for the 600 cfm carb is this: (Extracted from the Edelbrock site) "Designed for small-block and small displacement big-block engines, these carbs are recommended only for stock to Performer level applications. They are not recommended for use on RPM or Torker II intake manifolds."
That extact there bugs me a bit, so I started looking at the stats of each carb, here they are:
Edelbrock Performer 600cfm carbs:
Metering Jets – Primary .098, Secondary .095; Metering Rods – .075 x .047; Step-Up Spring – yellow (4" Hg)
Edelbrock Thunder Series AVS 650cfm Carbs:
Metering Jets – Primary .095, Secondary .098; Metering Rods – .068 x .047; Step-Up Spring – Orange (5" Hg)
Accordign to those stats it looks to me like the are both using the same Jets, they are just swopped around. As you can propably see, I dont know too much about this and am in need of some assistance regarding this topic. Is there really going to be such a major fuel consumption differance between those 2 carbs???
Another question I got is what distributor would be good for this setup??
Thank you all in advance for the much needed feedback :)
