Hi everyone,

I am about to purchase a 350 goodwrench engine. I ll put an edelbrock performer intake, a 650 carb, headers, flowmasters. It should make around 280 horses. Any guesses about the performance of the car in quarter mile run and 0-60? It'll have 350 TCI tranny, differential is stock. at least for now http://www.nastyz28.com/ubb/smile.gif my car is a 74 by the way...

Id say 15sec flat would be an achievment 1/4 with the stock heads and dished pistons

so, 0-60 should be around 7 secs then?

A buddy of mine ran a goodwrench engine in his 80 Z28. All stock with headers he was at 10.20 1/8 mile with 3.42 gear and stock stall. We added camel hump heads, performer intake & 600 holley & an old 327 375 cam he dropped to 8.84 1/8 mile which would be a mid to high 13. Im not sure what 0-60 would be.

Hey you two Buraks!

I know one of you but not the other.....yet http://www.nastyz28.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

You can't do bad with the Goodwrench 350. It's a great budget piece.

Having said that, if you've got a lttle more to spend, why not consider the 350 H.O. ? It's got 330 HP out of the crate!

Hey there Chevy Nut! http://www.nastyz28.com/ubb/smile.gif

nice to meet you, cool car you ve got by the way. you know i was intially thinking of the deluxe engine but because it is a turnkey engine, with all the accessories it's got on, it is even costlier to import because of the shipping fee, insurance and taxes!! as robert cray says, "taxes gonna break my back i swear, don't you know i pay a lot more than i share, i hate taxes!!"
goodwrench costs more or less 4000 bucks in complete form with edelbrock intake, carb etc. deluxe costs around 6000 to 6500 which is way over i can afford. i drive a lot at crawling speeds under heavy traffic so maybe it is better anyway for me. i just need possible 0-60 and quarter mile times http://www.nastyz28.com/ubb/smile.gif

Thanks for the compliment. My car looks good in the photo but I've got alot interior work to do yet.

Nice meeting you too.

I knew that crate engines cost more in Turkey but not that much.

As I said before, you wouldn't be disapionted with the Goodwrench. It has alot of potential in it for future upgrades.

I built my own here but my next build will be based on a factory roller block like the 350 H.O.

I don't know if you've seen these articles before but....

Stock, it's CR. is closer to 8 to 1 vs the advertised 8.5!

SO anything you can do to get it's compression up to about 9.5 to 1 is more power!!

64 cc double-hump heads and Fel-pro's #1094, .015" thick shim headgaskets should put it there for not much money at all, imho..

Then install a good 4-barrel intake system, a good old CC 268HE or a Crane 272/272 Energizer hy-cam and a set of headers AND go have some fun!

yeah, that is the catalogue price, they sell it between 2500-3000 in Turkey because of the importation costs.

Yeah its heavy tax and freight blues here http://www.nastyz28.com/ubb/wink.gif

Burak, whats your purpose with this car? street strip? or just cruising? (I dont know how its possible in terrible traffic here http://www.nastyz28.com/ubb/smile.gif)

I have a 74 Z28/LT, yellow w/black rally stripes on it. I have the similar combo to what pdq67 says. But I f you ask me today I would buy the long block. Especially finding the camel humps are hard here ( I guess I picked the last usefull ones arround http://www.nastyz28.com/ubb/wink.gif j/k). Even if you find the heads, you will need a decent set of valves, springs ,studs etc. also you gonna pay to machine shop to machine work and assembly whic will totally cost same ammount to a new set of assembled heads in US http://www.nastyz28.com/ubb/wink.gif

Intake, carb etc. is easy you can find some used ones here.

If you are looking for performance you can apart the heads and buy fel pro 1094 as pdq67 said which will raise your CR 0.5 point up, what was the cam shaft specs that included on your long block?

btw. you can have max 10.72 cr with our pump gas.

my purpose is just cruising and occasionally gettin away fast from the traffic lights http://www.nastyz28.com/ubb/smile.gif
well, my car is more or less finished except the engine and the tranny. you could check out the pics via the link. currently i have a faithful 250 cui, but i wanna drop in a rather civilised 350, around 250-280 horses would be enough for me really (yeah i know; ı would like to modify it in the future he he) below is the combo that i have received from my probable supplier. please let me know about your comments and suggestions for different parts:

1,350 goodwrench
2,Edelbrock 2701 manifold
3,Summit 850001 distributor
4,Fel pro 1204
5,harmonic damper sum-161350
6,g100sfi summit volan
7,summit g3000 air filter
8,spark plug set
9,edelbrock 600 electric choke carb
10,GM serpentine drive system 12497697
11,sum-g1668 starter
12. headers (summit)
13. flowmaster 40 series mufflers (do you think super 40's are significantly better by the way?)

i guess i know your car, have you got stickers on the fender and autometer ultra light gauges? http://www.nastyz28.com/ubb/smile.gif

Burak, how much your importer adds to value of the goods in US?

A very god friend of mine imports goods by 1.6 times of their US price ie: 100$ in summit, 160$ in here ... but if you order wheels or some big&heavy stuff he charges more - due to more freight charge. I've been shopping from him since 5 years w/o a problem. Also a friend of mine carried lotsa stuff from USA by lagguage.

I have lotsa usefull parts laying on the garage, I want to sell them, I talk to you on the pfone later.

Btw. The car that you saw belongs to customs broker who makes clearance for most car parts importer "Dartanyan Ahmet" not mine, here is the link for mine
