John, you didnt recognize that Camaro? Thats Bart's ride, he was in front of ya when we had our cruise back in March. How many cars were there last night?

john70h
05-10-2007, 12:36:44 PM
Mike,

I'd estimate about 200 cars....great night and a fine turnout.

BTW, that's not Bart's car. His is a 70 with stock Z-28 wheels. This car looks very similar, but has the aluminum wheels and the seats and dashboard have been upgraded to more modern stuff.

I saw Bart's car at Rhinebeck...wonder if he collected any trophies?

I didn't see Bart's car at rhinebeck...i saw about 5 other silver 2nd gens but not his....they all had cragers except one with stock wheels but it was from Mass....did i miss his car?

Wow, thats something, i had even looked back to when we did our cruise, and the picture which is reversed in 1RealZ's side mirror of Barts car, saw the Adirondack sticker in windshield also, I guess every car has a look a like just like every person, lmao. I'm hoping to be able to go down in a few weeks to the cruise, gotta wait and see. Tomorrow i'm getting my leaf springs done, cant wait.

I went to Highland last night to the cruise at the Hanafords/Mcdonalds parking lot. I would say there was about maybe 75 cars there total, not too bad. I saw a nice 77 camaro, some older mopars and even a pinto with a cage that looked pretty cool. I went spur of the moment because i wanted to take a ride with my new leaf springs in, what a difference in the ride, alot smoother.

Its good to be there no later than 540pm because after that your really far back in the field. The earlier the better. If guys can make 530pm that would be even better, what ever everyone wants we can do. It fills up really fast on a nice night.

Got to just spend a lil bit of time on the interior tomorrow and swap out the inflatable spare with the full size spare, and install the new headlight rings and i got to adjust the carb a little bit and the Z will be all ready. I drove it up to auto zone with the air cleaner lid off, what a difference when the engine can breath.

Hey, thats one of a few things i can do!lol. Mechanics arent my strong point, but i can do body work. '91 ragtop, white on white with red interior. Originally had a black cloth top but I shredded it while driving. After sitting for 5 years, I finally got it back together and on the road this year.

Now I get to deal with the "its been sitting too long" woes. Headlite motors both have failed. Bose CD player blew after hitting a bump while using it the first time. Gas *still* smells horrible even though I've gone thru 3 full tanks already. And I'll need tires - they have become hard and cracked. So yea - its just a "sunny fair-weather car" at the moment ;-) Its amazing how much can "just go wrong" due to lack of use.

Phil, do you have the white T/A that was at Bear Mt a few weeks ago?

That was me that was talking to you and mentioned nasty Z28, its good to have you here. It would be great to have you in a cruise. I liked your T/A and your definately a huge F Body fan from talking to you at Bear Mountain. Any ideas for a cruise please feel free, welcome again. Mike:bowtie:

Welcome Phil!!!!

Glad to have another NY'er on board with the NastyZ crew! A weekend cruise in Oct. would be a great idea. Don't know if i would be able to make it with the camaro but would come and maybe ride along with someone else if i was available.

Mike - any one of those weekends works for me at this point. There are some nice routes I think up around the New Paltz area or even up to Cold Spring in Putnam, Beacon in Dutchess, etc.

Thanks for the warm welcome Eric!

We're open to any and all suggestions for cruise routes. We had been thinking of a New Paltz area cruise, gets really nice this time of year with the foliage. Back in march we did a cruise where it was about an hour in length then another hour having lunch and bs'in, it was great got alot of positive feedback on the cruise but we did have guys wanting to cruise longer than 1 hour maybe making more of a day out of it on our next cruise. I literally did a dry run of the march cruise the day after we had a major snow storm( in my 4x4) and made the route out with complete directions.
