i have a 350 all set up with edlebrock performer rpm stuff. the carb intake and cam. when im going slow like in a parking lot i have trouble stalling sometiems if i try to turn without adding gas (even just coasting out of gear 4spd car) and if i turn and brake forget it. is that cam really that meaty that i would need a vaccume setup? or am i missing something?

What is your vacuum at idle? Maybe just turn the idle up a little.

not sure. ill be honest i havent touched a carb in about 7 years. spent a lot of time playing with efi on the new vette's, fbody, and some import. ill have to look it up. and after watching bullrun the other night i dont trust carbs anymore. it cost the charger dearly

Might want to check the float level. Also, depending on what your idle vacuum is, you might need slightly weaker step up springs. If the springs are too strong for the amount of vacuum, the metering rods will be raised up causing it to run rich. My opinion is a float level problem.

Go to edelbrocks website. They should have manuals for all of their carbs. From there you can figure out what your baseline specs should be. Every edelbrock carb i have ever bought (new) had the floats way out of wack. Set those first. That should make your stalling on braking and cornering better (i have never been happy with edelbrocks that way) Make sure both of your idle screws are about 1.5 turns out. This is a baseline. With that cam, you may be into the idle transfer circuit, which may render your idle screws useless. So basically what im saying is if you turn the idle screws all the way in, or even half turn out and it still runs, you may have to drill holes in your primary butterflies.
BTW, these carbs are extremely simple, and easy to tune. Dont be afraid to tear the lid off of it, but when you put it back on, dont force anything. You might find it easier to pull the metering rods before you put the lid back on. Anyways, happy carbing.

yep on an edelbrock carb if your stalling during turns or breaking then it's the float levels.
pretty simple to adjust.
The right settings for the floats are 7/16" at rest and 15/16" to 1" drop.. You can look on edelbrock's site for the guide and how to.. as far as getting to the floats and what to do to change the adjustments

If you havent touched it i years Im guessing all adjustments are fine and you need a good cleaning.
