Installing 2001 vortec into an '80 Camaro. Lowend says the I need to use the engine mounts for the LS1 swap. Questions: What LS1 swap? Has there been an article or something that gives the correct engine mount (the one that bolts to the engine with 4 bolts). Is there a part number for this so I can purchase them?
thanks,

LS1 is the classification of engine it is.. i think after 1998-1999 all the chevy V-8's were that style....
nothing in common AT ALL with a normal SBC maybe the bellhousing bolt pattern is the same.. but i think thats it...

No, no, I know the LS1 is a specified year of engine. My queston has to do with dropping it into an '80 Camaro subframe. The Camaro clip has the soft pads with a hole thru the middle for a large mounting bolt to run thru it. I need to know if I just purchase an LS1 4-bolt (part that bolts to the engine) bracket that has the large one bolt that goes into the soft pad mount that is bolted to the clip. If not what is needed to make the COMPLETE mounting of the engine to the clip?

Learn something new every day! I never knew the later Vortec engines had the LS1 mounting pads!

Look at the lower left hand corner of page 64:

I used these for an LS1 swap. The plates bolt to the block then you bolt the fixed metal half of a traditional clamshell style mount to the plate then set the engine down over the rubbery part attached to the frame.
It is news to me that Vortec engines used the same motor mount arrangement as LS1 engine. Heaven forbid that GM should have cast in some additional bosses in the "traditional" spot to accomodate engine retro-fits.

Mike,
Thanks for the info. That article by Street & Performance really helped. I will go the way of the adaptor plate. I'll call them Monday morning.
