I am installing my intake manifold tommorrow and want to know if or not to use the restrictor plate that come with the gasket. I have a 1981 350 and I am using a new weinard intake manifold. Should restrict any of the gasket? Thank you.

I think that plate is only used if you're using an EGR.

schitzo,

I'm assuming your talking about the little plate for the intake manifold gaskets.

If the restrictor plate you are referring to is the one that is placed in the middle port for the exhaust crossover, then it depends on a few details. Depending on the brand of gaskets you have some of the plate have a small hole and others are completely blocked off.

1) If your Weiand intake is a dual plane and uses a heated choke for the carb, you might want to leave it off especially since you're up near the great lakes area where it get colder.

2) If you have a single plane intake or you have an electric or manual choke carb, then go ahead and use the plates.

Up north where it gets very cold I'd not install the restrictor, unless it's a warm weather only car.
