Does anyone know of a good factory Gen V Cylinder Head for Big Blocks? I have a Gen V 454 block and crank that I want to build up, and I need some heads. I'd prefer a rectangular port if possible since I already have a good intake. I also don't mind having ported and so forth. If there is such a thing, what did they come on so I can start searching for them in junkyards, on the net, and so forth. Anyone using anything like that in yor car? Lemme know...

Cehck on the GM performance parts site for BBC heads...and look SPECIFICALLY for the GENV ones. They'll say sometimes what part # they superseced and give specs for you.

The original 502/502HP crate engines had iron rectangle port heads, basically a copy of the old LS 6 heads. Good luck finding them at the junkyards though, the only passenger car/truck mark 5 heads were peanut ports.

The 'regular' Mark IV heads might not work on the Gen V and VI blocks because of the coolant holes being arranged differently and they are a different size and shape.
There's some good info here:

You could always use the factory Vortec 7400 heads from a 1997 to 2000 truck. They flow pretty well in stock form. You will have to use an oval port intake on them though.

Thanks for the help guys. Maybe something from the Marine side of things might produce a rect. port head? Just trying to keep costs down. If not I'll just have to wait and get something from the aftermarket.
