Heys guys, I'm going to use a pr of solid lifter to check my geometry. I have ordered a Comp adjustable length checker. Anyway the plungers are at different levels on my solid lifters vs the hydraulic ones. Will this matter? The solid pair measures .430 below the rim, and the hydraulic ones measure .300. I'm assuming that the hydralic ones will be about the same as the solid when I set the preload in final assembly. But you know what they say about assume. Thanks, Russ;)

yes it does matter russel. The hylift Johnson lifter does have a lower pushrod seat in it. I called them to ask they why and they didn't even know why they did it that way.

I always check with the exact lifters I'm going to use and temporarily install very low pressure "checking" valve springs on the cylinder I'm doing the check.
