When putting the engine mounts back together, it seems to me that when I removed the connecting bolts-the long bolts that hold the two halves together- they were running in opposite directions. In other words the nut is at the front for one mount and towards the rear for the other mount. Now which side has the nut positioned at the front? I think that it is the drivers side. Am I correct? Or does it really make any difference? Thanks for all replies!!

When I did mine there were a total of 3 bolts and nuts. All three nuts were on the bottom. It is also easier to put the nut on from the bottom using a 9/16" distributor wrench to hold, while someone up top torques it down. As for the long ones that go straight through, you'll have to take midnight's word for it.

You are quite correct - the nut needs to go towards the front on the passenger side. Otherwise you have to remove the fuel pump to get the through bolt out. It wasnt obvious to me since at the time, I didnt have the fuel pump in. Now that I have the fuel pump installed, it is obvious. And oh yes I know all about the engine mounts to the subframe = big PIB.

Thanks for the tip (soon to replace motor myself). I noticed this on my Chevelle and didn't know why, so I put the both in from the front, but I was running an electric pump. I probably would have done the same thing in my Camaro.
