I'm switching out my 6.2L deisel for a 350 gas eng in my truck.
I got a free truck with a 350 that ran and I drove it. I did a comp test and found 6 cyls at 150# 1 at 140# and 1 at #75.
I did a leakage test and found a worn exhaust valve in the 75# hole.
After pulling the heads I saw a rebuild tag with no company name on the side.
The cyl's look ok and I can slill see cross hash marks in spots on the walls. I dont see any oversize marks on the pistons. My inital thought was to hone it and re-ring it whyle its tis far down but if it's been rebuilt and only honed is there enough left in the cyls for another hone?
I dont have any way to accuratly measure the cyl size.
Being that the comp was fair to start with should I just leave it and get the heads done?
This is going into my C-30 with a camper that gets driven, fairly heavly loadad, about 3 or 4 400 mile round way trips a year (not driven often but worked when it does)
Also I am on a TIGHT budget (aren't we all;^)
Thanks for your opinions

I think you will be okay just getting the heads taken care of.

I was reading in another post where someone had just replaced a single valve. Is this a decent fix (if I lap it in)?

Yes.

But if you have it pulled this far down, I would do a valve job on it and put new seals on too! And of course, replace the bad valve like you mentioned doing.

You know, "dollar smart and penny foolish" is all...

Lets say I'm going to replace the valve seals anyway is there a way to check the other valves for contact or premature wear
Is it typical for a machinist to check the springs on a stock valve job?
