When I first start my Vroom Vroom, my oil PSI is at about 40, then when the car warms up drops down to about 18-20 PSI. Im pretty my driverside valve cover is leaking, would this be a reason for such a low PSI? I keep it filled btw too, no low oil babe

how would your valve cover make low oil pressure, unless it is causing you to be low on oil.

Your oil pressure is probably higher when you 1st start it b/c the oil is thick. As oil gets up to operating temp it thins out. Hense that is why I always change my oil after the car has been on a trip somewhere. I also believe that oil pressure goes down after warm up b/c metal parts expand with heat.

What RPM are you taking your oil pressue at? Do 1 reading at idle, then at 1500rpm, then stomp on it and get a reading.

Report back.

I fwe are talking strictly pressure at idle, as long as you are getting over 15 PSI at 1000 RPMs, I would not be concerned. The old rule of thumb was 10 PSI per 1000 RPMs but I would rather have a bit more and you do so don't stress. And no there is no way a leaking valve cover is going to give you a low pressure reading, most SBC oil pressure gauge senders are at the back of the block.

Cool, just making sure :D. Oil psi at idle is 18. 1500 rpms is about 40-45, Smashing and roaring is about 60 or so.

Actually I call the lawnmower the vroom vroom, more HP than a civic. Lol but it is loud as hell when you get on it, thats without any exhaust at all. Cant wait for headers and my blackmarket exhaust setup.
