I'd like to know where is the best place to go to get an assemembled 350 short block.
I'm looking for a stock 350 bottom end, with dished pistons, so I can run a decent set of 58cc World heads I have.
I want to be able to put my own cam in it and whatnot, and as far as I know, Advance Auto only sells a longblock, but I could be wrong...
Advance gets $1100 for the longblock, and they say I cant change the stock cam out of it without voiding the warranty...

I can't tell you where to get it from, but I can tell you where not to. Do not, under any circumstances, order ANYTHING assembled or machined by Speed-O-Motive. Nothing short of con-artists. You might try your local machine shop. People get work done and can't pay for it them leave the stuff there. A 350 is common enough they might have one laying around that is for sale.

Why not ask around at your local machine shop(s). You may be plesantly suprized at the quality and pricing. It's always nice to have a local shop to contact when you need torque values, advice, or maybe a set of V/C gaskets.

napa has some great shortblocks(i think they sell shortblock)
but for the price of a shortblock a couple hundred more will get you a GM "general replacement" long block engine(can usually be found for around $1199 when on sale) normal price is like $1399
with a good intake/carb and headers they put out an honest 260HP/350ftlbs
jegs and summit i think have them...
if you wanted to run the better heads.. you could probebly sell the ones on the longblock for a couple hundred or keep them for spares

plus you can sell the heads and cam somewhere.
