Don't hang out here much but thought this question should belong here. Would an "X" pipe be worthless in a transverse exhaust system? I personally don't care for the mufflers hanging down under the back seat and want to put the transverse exhaust back in it. I just don't know if it's worth it to pipe it with an "X" pipe when the exhaust equals out in the back anyway...

From what I remember reading the x pipe helps even out and pull the exhaust out smoother for a better flowing exhaust. I have the pypes transverse muffler exhaust with the x pipe installed in my car right now. I need to clean the fuel system out before I can start it though. The gas has been in there for at least ten years. It has plenty of gas stable added but still smells a little funny.

I've read where the "experts" say the benefits of an "H" or "X" cross-over is only worth gains when it's installed as close to the collectors as possible. I also run a transverse muffler, mainly because 2 seperate mufflers don't give enough ground clearance. I currently run the Flowmaster 80 series, but I'm planning on cutting it out and installing a Dynamax Ultra X Flo transverse muffler. I ran an "H" pipe with my old exhaust system and was highly disappointed. I couldn't feel any difference after I installed it. I don't think a crossover pipe is worth the cost....just speaking on my experience with one.

i dont think it will offer any gains on a single exhaust. its made to balance out dual exhaust. your basically adding more pipe and nothing else without true duals.

So, from what I'm reading there could possibly still be a benefit if it's close the the collectors. Sounds like it does a little more than just equal out the banks. I too like the clearance a transverse system provides and really hate to see those mufflers hanging down in the back.
