MY CAMARO WAS ORIG.A 6 CYL./4-SPEED CAR.IT NOW HAS A 355/TH350 COMBO.I PICKED UP A REBUILT T56 OUT OF AN LT1 CAR.I STILL HAVE THE 4-SPEED CONSOLE AND THE CLUTCH PEDAL,WHAT ALL DO I NEED? HAS ANYONE DONE THIS? WOULD THE LT1 BELLHOUSING FIT THE 355 SBC?ANY HELP OR SUGGESTIONS WOULD BE GREAT.

As far as this gos I have a 454 w/t56 behind it. I dont know what to tell you about the flywheel but the rest of the setup should bolt right in for the most part. the bellhousing is the same pattern as long as it is an lt1 tranny ls1 tranny's are a different story. I dont know about the console either the shifter will come up dead center of the drive shaft hump right in front of the crossmember that the body mounts are in. The original clutch pedal will work. You have two options you can retro fit the late model hydraulic master cylinder to the old clutch or you can buy a bellhousing setup for the original z-bar system. I have the hydraulic setup in mine but you will need to fab a bracket to mount the master to the firewall. It also forces you to use latemodel clutches which are quite a bit more expensive than the old style that came in these cars. Also you will need to fab up a crossmember for the tranny none of the originals will work.

Hope this helps and doesnt just confuse you.

Also you may want to post this up and do a search in the transmission forum there are several guys that have done this and several that are doing it right now.
