View Full Version : stock camshaft? kyledyr 04-24-2007, 12:50:35 PM hey guys, i'm new on this forum. i've got a 1981 trans am with a chevy 305 (LG-4 150 hp) from 1984. Could anyone tell me the stock camshaft duration and sizes? Thanks! doechsle 04-24-2007, 02:22:44 PM if im not mistaken the 305 cam was 184 int and 194 ex. The 305 HO cam was 194/204 Lowend 04-24-2007, 04:25:02 PM Yeah - it was right around that... dinky and not good for much. Are you looking for a replacement cam? If so there are a lot of stock-ish cams that will work a lot better kyledyr 04-24-2007, 06:18:36 PM that's exactly what im planning to do. i have an edelbrock 3702 camshaft (194 intake/ 214 exhaust) still in the box. i chose this one because it is the one Edelbrock suggested to use with the CCC (computer command control) that started being put into GM car in 1981. i just wanted to make sure it was different than stock, haha. this is the one: http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?part=EDL%2D3702&autoview=sku pdq67 04-24-2007, 08:32:56 PM I'd check and see if the Performer cam at 204/214 won't work for you?? I bet it will do fine.. Summit sell's it and a new set of lifters for less than a "C"-note!! pdq67 Lowend 04-24-2007, 09:14:38 PM If you already have it, that one will work fine and pass smog. The extra exhaust duration will help a ton |
