Ok I know everyone has a opinion about using a High volume pump or not in a engine build up. I typically only use stock pumps with a Z-28 pump and have never had a problem. This time though I am building a 7500 rpm 427 BBC and I want to know if it is finally time to step up the pump. I would like actual account based answers not what the books say, cause I have read them all twice. Oh and yes I have a 6 quart pan, 7-8 with a filter.

Stock pump with the high pressure spring is all you need unless you have excessive bearing clearances.
