View Full Version : 90 Degree or Straight Plug Wires for Big Block? gordonquixote 04-23-2007, 09:36:04 PM Any input? Pics? doechsle 04-23-2007, 09:37:27 PM 45 degrees worked best for mine. Marks71BB 04-23-2007, 09:39:18 PM 45? I got the 90 degree boots and I think 45 would be better or even straight would be better than the 90 degree with my fat headers. I'll keep an eye on this thread cuz its a question I have pondered.. Mark pdq67 04-23-2007, 09:50:44 PM I think they are called 135 angle jobbers!! pdq67 al5570 04-23-2007, 10:04:33 PM when i was buying my stuff for my big block build, i was told to buy the 135 degree ones, so thats what i have. theflash 04-23-2007, 10:16:10 PM I think they are called 135 angle jobbers!! pdq67 + 1 thats what I use ZS10 04-23-2007, 10:17:57 PM I used the MSD "Multi-angle", about 30-40* Expencive, but I highly recomend them for perfect fit. Grumpy 427 04-23-2007, 10:49:51 PM i used 135's ,then i bought a set of heads with raised exhaust ports. that changed everything. i burnt 3 on the headers. had to go to MSD flat 90's for clearance. Brian Callahan 04-24-2007, 12:30:00 AM Ours has raised port heads too, but 135° actually worked best for us. Smokin70SS 04-24-2007, 06:30:19 AM I'll get pics of my brothers 45* boot wires tomorrow and post. They're almost perfect in fit and we've never burnt a boot. For reference he's using Hooker Comp 2" prim headers on a GM 781 head. Smokin70SS 04-24-2007, 09:59:25 AM Here ya go. http://www.skidawgracing.com/temppic/pashd.jpg http://www.skidawgracing.com/temppic/drvhd.jpg TooLateVTEC 04-24-2007, 10:50:30 AM I use 135* on my pile as well...MSD 8.5mm and havent burned one yet. gordonquixote 04-24-2007, 01:00:00 PM Thanks everyone - thanks for the effort on the pics, Smokin'. al5570 04-24-2007, 03:15:13 PM not to steal the wall.......but whats the difference in 45 degree plugs and 135 degree plugs. those pictures of the 45 look just like my 135. Marks71BB 04-24-2007, 07:57:27 PM Theres no diffrence al Just where the angle is measured. 135 degrees reflect more acurate the angle of the plug end but are often mistakenly refered to as 45 degrees. Smokin70SS 04-24-2007, 08:07:19 PM That was a typo. They are listed as 135* but some boots like Fords advertises them as 45*. 45* back from 180* (straight) is 135*. al5570 04-24-2007, 08:11:26 PM Theres no diffrence al Just where the angle is measured. 135 degrees reflect more acurate the angle of the plug end but are often mistakenly refered to as 45 degrees. thanks mark, i appreciate it. thats what i was thinking............. 135+45=180....same angle, different measurement. |
