Had my Z dyno'ed with the local camaro club Saturday: 327 Hp and 389 ft-lbs of torque. All from a 355 with Vortec heads 750 cfm eddy carb, 268 extreme energy cam and a performer intake

Is that rear wheel HP, or corrected to the flywheel?

those are probably flywheel numbers.

What would lead you to say that? Just asking...

They would be great numbers at the rear with a 268 cam

I was just going to say......he dyno'ed his Z he said.
That would dictate car with motor on rear wheel dyno I'd think.

Sounds GOOD dude :D Go kick some ass-phalt.

Net HP = 75% Gross HP (flywheel)

RWHP = 82.5% Net HP (auto trans)
RWHP = 86.5% Net HP (manual)

I was just wondering, because near 400ft-lbs to the rear wheel from a mild 355 is close to unbelievable. In which case, I need the number of your engine builder.:)

I've heard of some shops handing out slips where they correct the RWHP back to flywheel with a fudge factor (like Little Naples listed). Just curious.

Yea I’m amazed at the torque figure too, and that is at the rear wheels all three pulls were W/I a half of percent of one another . The upgrades (done over the winter) to the engine specs listed in my first post are comp pro magnum rocker arms, alum. Flywheel, and march under-drive pulleys. Feel the flywheel made the bigest different. Now if I can only get a RPM air-gap manifold to fit under the stock hood?????

Mustang II chassis dyno by chance?

i heard the Mustang dyno sucked, and instead of real numbers they gave less then the actual number of the motor.

This was confirmed by a local racer, cause we have the Mustang dyno, and the other kind,( no name at the moment cause i can't remember) Here in lubbock, and he had his care tested on both dyno. the Mustang underrated the motor really bad. while the other was more dead-on with the crate motor Numbers. after figuring in drivetrain loss that is.

Mine made 475hp on a mustang dyno. I still feel these are just numbers and it is the improvement from the baseline to the finishing pull that are really important. I feel this is more of a tuning tool than a "thats what it makes".

I don't remember the brand of the dyno, but here's what it looks like - (Phil and I are in the same Camaro club, lol)

My HP went up 50 over last fall. I went from a 600 Holley to a 650 DP and had the new rear put in. I think I was losing a lot through the old rear. She went from 228 to 276 and the torque stayed the same around 324. I have the GM Performance HO Deluxe rated at 330 at the flywheel per the GM specs on the engine.

Yea April, you go girl, taking in to account the approximant 20% drive train lose for an automatic this would put right at 331 HP @ the flywheel. I upped the size of the metering rods and secondary jets on my 750 Edelbrock Carb and just by seat of pants I feel it picked the 15-20 horses they said it would!!!

Phil, I'm running an airgap intake under the stock hood. I had a small 10" air cleaner, but now I have the 14" X 2 3/4" with a 1 1/4" drop base. Fits fine, and looks purty.

April, nice video - car sounds healthy!
