I've lived with this for about 2 weeks now. It's finally at the point where it's driving me nuts to drive my car. I can push the pedal maybe 1/2-1", and then it gets hard. I have to push down using a moderate amount of force for it to go WOT. Sometimes, it sticks a little, and if I pop the pedal it will fully release. I don't have any problems with it sticking WOT or anything, just when the pedal is barely down.
It's not a kink in the cable, as I sprayed the carb with WD-40 and it loosened it up for a little while. Next day I went out, it was sticking same as before.
I regularly clean the carb out w/ carb cleaner. It's about 2 years old.
Anyone have any insight?? Help is greatly appreciated!

I had that same problem. A stronger return spring definately helped but not the greatest fix.

Grab the butterfly shaft and try to wiggle it up and down... if it wiggles at all order a new baseplate with the butterflies and shafts already installed. You will be way ahead of the game. Just my 2 cents....

sounds like a bent throttle shaft or worn out bushings ,take the throttle lever and see if there's any movement like side to side .if there's any movement your throttle shaft is worn and you'll need to replace it

Have you done anything to the carb recently? I have seen the wrong size gasket used between the body and the throttle plate before. The wrong gasket in some of the rebuild kits that cover multiple models is just a little too small for the butterflies to fit in. Try looking down the inside (with the engine off) and work the throttle to see if you can find any binding. Good luck.

It sounds like muscl car got it. I can move the throttle lever back and forth.

The return spring is new, and I have it hooked on the throttle cable bracket. I have not messed with the carb gasket at all, it's exactly the same as it was a year ago.

I think I'm just gonna pony up the dough and buy either a 670 avenger or a 650 Demon. Yeah, yeah I know about the problems BG's had...but maybe I'll take a chance anyways.
