Just got off the phone with the owner of Speed, Inc., which is in Schaumburg, IL., about 5 miles from my home. They are well- known and well-respected high-performance specialists in the midwest.

Told him I have a 78Z, pretty strong structurally, and that I would let him check it out to determine if it was "worthwhile" to spend the "dough-re-me" on it.

Should be an fascinating insight with this company that is very serious about the work it takes on.

I'll let you know about this first-hand, face to face meeting with an engine specialist! As you may know, I'm looking for an engine swap that, if feasable within my pocket=book and current desire, can be accomplished. I can not, will not...do "the deed", myself.

The LS1 is a hell of an engine for sure. But for about the same money as an LS1 swap (with all of the needed stuff and labor) I could build a "conventional" small block with F/I and more power.

Be sure you are sitting down when the numbers start getting tossed around.....

Brett, yeah....I am sure what you are saying is true.....but if you want the stares at the car show or cruise in then an LS1 is tough to beat.
