You disconnect the vac. adv. and plug the carb when setting timing but you don't plug the vacuum canister too, right? It only responds to suction, so how is exposing an unplugged canister to no vacuum different than plugging it and giving it...no vacuum?

The advance unit is spring loaded, the vacuum pulls the advance, no vacuum leaves it to its normal, timing retarded, position. You don't need to cap the advance unit.

Thats what i thought. But, I was given some info (not on this website) suggesting that I should plug it too when doing the timing.... I didn't think so. Thanks!
