Is there an electric water temp sensor that will fit in my World Products S/R head? Since these are considered stock replacement heads I'm hopeing to find a sensor that'll work with my stock temp guage. My old 305 heads used a large diameter sensor an these S/R heads take a small one. Thanks

I THINK that same-year 350 engines/heads use the smaller diameter threads but the senders that fit in them are otherwise electrically identical.
I went through this exact same situation years back with a set of S/Rs and I beleive that was my solution but it has been YEARS since I went through it. Also, in my case I was just using a sender that drove an idiot light, not a gague.

Well the 350 version wasn't it either. Kinda dissapointing that nobody on the board has ever run into this before. I'm taking the car to the drag strip this friday an wanted a temp guage in there for the drive up atleast. I'll have to try calling WP tommorow then.

Scott,
I ran into the same problem. I chose to mount the temperature sender in the intake manifold near the thermostat housing. It works fine for me.

I have a set of World Sportsman II heads on one of my engines. I went to NAPA and bought the sender for the stock gauges and it worked okay. I also have another aftermarket sender in the intake manifold. I would have figured the S/R sets would be the same.

Mine had a hole in the driver side head and the autometer guage i bought for it already had the appropriate connectors to make the temp sensor fit in there?!
I didn't even know this was an issue.

Sorry that didn't work for you, man. I know exactly what you're talking about with the different thread size- I went through it just like you are. I just wish I could remember exactly how I solved it.
I am sure I just used a different sender from another application. Maybe it was a later or earlier model. Just can't remember.

If I'm not mistaken, there are only 2 sizes, the big one and the small one. I *think* the big one was used on early cars and the small one on late cars. I've only ever seen 2 in 18 years of tinkering http://www.nastyz28.com/ubb/wink.gif

Ok 1978LT, that might help, I'm sure you know how those parts stores can be looking up parts. They need the all them details on the car first, but I'll have'em look up newer years.
