OK, so i got a new engine harness, but i'm not sure what some of the connections are, since they have already been removed from the old harness. i've tried looking at the wiring diagrams, but honestly, i can't find these specific connections...

ok, so here goes:

there is a black wire that comes out of the harness near the two wires for the starter... the connector is a rubber boot, similar looking to the oil pressure sender connector - any idea what this is for?

there's a bunch of of wires for the tcs system, but i don't think my tcs system is operating, so i'm wondering if i need to connect any of these, and also, can I use any as a 12v source (with ign on) for something like my electric choke carb?

there's also another group of wires ... 4 to be exact, 2 tan go into one terminal of the connector, one light green, and blue go into the other terminal... it is currently unplugged from my engine, so i am also wondering if i shopuld let them dangle as they are now...

thanks!

ok, so i turned every page of the assembly manual and came up with a couple of possibilities... the black wire is for the tcs switch, which looks like it attaches to the transmission itself... since it is unplugged now, i am assumming i can get rid of this.

also, the plug with the two tan, one light green, and one blue is for the tcs solenoid on the old carb, which is also now disconnected... but can i use this for any other purpose, or should i just snip it?

anyway, would still like to know of a switched 12v power source in the engine harness i can use... anything besides the washer? the prev owner had the elec choke hooked up to one of the wires connected to the tcs relay, which was still connected for some reason..

thanks

I can suggest this:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=6760&item=7985285214&rd=1

....because I got one for my 73 and it helped me wire up a remote solenoid and move the battery to the truck. Its JUST what you need, and cheap too http://www.nastyz28.com/ubb/wink.gif A lifesaver since it gives stock wire size and colors http://www.nastyz28.com/ubb/smile.gif

thanks, but i already have that... it seemed to be missing a couple of the connectors for the tcs system that were included in the more detailed drawings i found in the 71 assembly manual... anyway, remote solenoid and battery move to trunk also sound like a good idea.. can you use a remote solenoid on any type of starter?
