Hey guys I have been doing a little math on what it would cost to rebuild my -781 cylinder heads for performance. I figured it would be around $900. While I was lookiing for parts I saw that cast iron assembled world heads can be bought for as low as $1,499
is the saved money well saved or are the aftermarket heads going to be far superior and worth the extra money? sheez brand new heads for $500 bucks more? why waste my time rebuilding 25 year old heads.
What do you guys think?

Yeah, its a viscious cycle. It all adds up, so either save the pennies for aluminum, get your heads done elsewhere cheaper, or pick the middle ground and go from there.

Either way....you're gonna spend the $ to go fast....just don't get too big a head where you loose port velocity on the bottom end http://www.nastyz28.com/ubb/wink.gif

Hell, go to the flatlander site and order a set of Brodix BB 2x aluminum heads that will smoke the World for 1300 or so.

Imho, if I had it to do over again, I woulda bought the cheap 310 cc Canfield aluminum heads for my 496 motor if for no other reason than them being aluminum!!

But they weren't around back in '95 that I knew of so I went W/P's Merlin cast-iron ovals.

But I'm after midrange STREET motor grunt...
