I am planning a LS1 and a 6 speed in my 71 camaro. What recommendations would you have as far as years and for what models? Corvette or F-body motor and trans? What years are the most bang for your buck? What has the most aftermarket parts available for the swap? What should I stay away from? Any help would greatly be appreciated

Do a search in here, and in the trans forum, it's been covered quite a few times. While I haven't done it myself, I can tell you a few things from what i've read. You definately don't want to use the trans from a vette as they use trans-axles. I believe all the vettes after 97 (maybe 98, not sure) used some sort of electronic throttle, so you won't want to use them. I'm not sure that there are any aftermarket parts for this swap. I'm pretty sure that Year One makes a kit for the first gen, so you may want to check with them. Like I had said, someone (or multiple members) on here have done this before and posted "how-to's" wich looked very helpful, so get your search on.
