View Full Version : Quick fuel pressure guage and reg. question

I recently installed a fuel pressure regulator (cheap Spectre) in line between my Edelbrock 750 and fuel filter. I want to install a fuel pressure guage, but I'm not sure exactly where to put it. Should it be between the carb and the regulator, or between the regulator and the fuel filter.

Thanks in advance!

Doesn't make a lot of difference as long as it is behind the fuel regulator. If you put it behind the filter, it might help indicate a clogged filter if you get an unexpected pressure drop.

Isn't there a port on the reg?

Rick... Naw, no port on them cheap little regs. They aint setup like a holley dual outlet deadhead

Myself... I like to check fuel psi right before the carb.. That away I know what pressure the carb's needles and seats are getting.

If you want to watch for a clogged filter, you could put it before filter.

Of if you want to keep an eye on the reg and make sure it's not clogging up then you could put it before the reg.

Like I said though.. I like to take my readings after all inline parts and right before the carb's inlet

Anywhere on the outlet portion of the circuit should be fine. As Marv once said, "Theoretically, pressure is pressure." If you're seeing 6 psi at the regulator output, you're almost assuredly seeing 6 psi at the needle because the needle is causing the pressure rise.
