Friend of mine is building a car and wanted to know the length of a 350 from rear of block to the front pullies. Anybody know off hand? Or perhaps has a tape measure and an engine sitting around?
He just wants to know if it would fit into his car before he gets one.
Thanks!

All muscle cars are capable of carriying a small block, but if hes not building a muscle car, he may have complications on putting it in.
in expamle, a '79 camaro has the ability to carry small blocks, but if you want to put a big block in it you gotta take some stuff out of the engine compartment or "make room"

I put a 396 in my 81 Camaro and didn't have to move anything. It went right in.

thats because its pretty much a 70(ar far as engine compartment).. 70-81 engine compartments varied little... since a BB was available in the SS 70-72 it'll bolt in like the car was made for it.. since well it was..

I've been thinking about doing the same thing. It would help to know what kind of car he has. I know where there is one of those mitsubishi Conquest TSI cars sitting in a side yard. Front longitudinal mounted engine, rear drive, that thing screams for a V-8 conversion. Oh and by the way, that Building High Performance Chervrolets book has all the dimentions from every angle of a small block in it, or at least the one I bought fifteen years ago did.
