Ive done a search but nothing came up. Now that Im running NOS i really want an accurate timing light but the rumor mill has it that the digital timing lights made be snapon burn up when used with msd boxes.
fact or fiction???

When you're using a MSD 7 or better you need to put an extra wrap or 2 of insulation on the pickup connection point. (plug wire) I use heat shrink, but a couple of wraps of electrical tape will suffice.

The pickup is (too) sensitive and the excess spark energy messes with the timing light. (at least with their digital light)

I have used my Snap on timming light since 01 on everything. I had no problem with my MSD 10 ignition and coil or the digital 7 stuff.
Carfstmans work very well.

Ours would make the timing mark jump around, talked to the Snap On rep, that's the solution he gave us, it fixed our problem.

might have to try that, i got a snapon and it was jumping from TDC to 90* couldn't figure it out so i learned to read it. but with the heat wrap and all i would think i had enough layers on it. will try the electrical tape.

So the mian problem is timing mark jumping around? So what about buring up the timing gun circuitry?

Snap on digital works fine with my MSD 6AL with the box.
