just wanted to know what that combo would be like with the high rpms the 327 is capable of

3000 stall would be my minimum for a street/strip 327 with any amount of duration, esp in our heavy cars. I ran a 9" converter with my 327 many years back, and could have used more stall.

so that would be a good set up 4 my 81 with the 3000 stall

Some specs would help, but unless you're engine is completely stock or plans are to travel across the states and back, you should be OK.

I had a 3000 stall in my camaro when I had the 327 in it (still have the same converter, just now has a 454 in front of it). I thought it ran great with the 4.10's. I don't know much about the motor since I didn't build it other than it was a 67, camel hump heads, Edy RPM intake, and either a Holley 650DP, or 750 VS, which ever I felt like running at the time.

I had a 327 with the same size cam and converter, same heads, etc that I run on my 350 now

272/284*, 216/228* @.050", .454"/.480" lift, 112 lsa, 1966 462 heads, ported and polished, manley stainless valves, etc etc.

2800 stall 11" converter that flashed to 3000 rpm on the 327 (flashs to 3200 on my 350 now)

The 327 engine was in a 4700 lbs 1973 c/10 and it was a DOG!!!! Had great power from about 3800 all the way up from there but couldnt get out of its own way off the line. Best time was like 15.9 seconds in the 1/4 mile.

It needed ALOT more gear. I figure 4.10 min gear to get it moving good but a 4.56 or 4.88 would have matched the 327's low torque better and got it off the line much better.

In a second gen camaro with a 3K stall converter I would say use a min of a 3.73 gear with a 327 engine

that what i have is the 373 gear i was thinkn that bcuz you could rev a 327 up to around 7grand that if i used a 3000 stall to sub for the lil low end torque that it would run like a monster

my dad runs a 6000 in his 55 chevy with 327. Also has 4.88 gears, Car is fun when you let the t-brake go!

J,

You'd been better off leaving it a STOCK 300hp/327 engine, imho at your weight!!!

Truthfully you can rev any small block up higher than you think if built right. My 355 has more top end than my 327 ever did really. I make every shift on my 355 at 6400 rpm and had it to over 7K a few times (7300 or so) but it stops making power at about 6800 rpm

3000 stall will compliment that camshaft nicely, it tends to be soft on the lower RPM scale.
