Starting to get back to work on my 383. I now have a set of the Edelbrock 608919 heads. Edelbrock recommends a Champion rc-12yc plug. I read a past post that said the correct ac plug was a FR3LS. The guy at the auto parts gave me an NGK # 5155, Its a V power, FR4 plug. I wanted to run it by you guys and see what you think? If this plug will work what do you guys recommend the gap to be? Also, its time to start thinking about what headers to use. I read some older post that Headmans would clear. I was thinking of buying them from Jet Hot. The main thing is I want plenty of clearence on the spark plugs and I don't won't to modify my floor pans. I also want to keep the steering lock rod mechanism in working order.

Anyway it feels great to get started back on the build. I need to check my rocker geometry, and valve clearence, then I'm ready to pull it apart, paint the block and start final assembly.

I run the NGK V type plug and really like them. As for headers, I went with Hooker Competition, about 149 at Jegs/Summit/etc. They fit well, Eddy recommended them, but I cuss a blue streak every time I change #6 plug. I also used MSD 8.8 wires and have heat sleeves on a couple of them. Oh, and BTW, prepare to become a contortionist trying to get the back bolt in on #8.

The Champions didn't last long before fouling for me. I have angle plug RPM's and use the Autolite equivalent 3924 and they run clean all summer. I've had best results with .035 gap. I have Hooker Super Comps which were recommended for angle plug heads. No plug or wire issues.
The Champion RC series plugs are a little shorter than the RN series which helps in header clearance problems. Keep that in mind if you cross reference them to a different brand.
