Okay I swear that this project might kill me. I have my new carb on and from what I can see I have two problems.

1. I don't have any tension in my gas pedel. The pedel is all the way on the floor. I was considering that I might have to tighten the cable but I didn't know if that would be it and I don't know how I would go about doing that.

2. If I was to give the carb more gas by moving the side throttle ( see pic www.cofba.org/users/tristanz28/Pics/throttle_01.jpg (http://www.cofba.org/users/tristanz28/Pics/throttle_01.jpg) ) but the top vent covers don't move. This is a problem. The part in the highlighted section in the above hyperlink and this part (see pic www.cofba.org/users/tristanz28/Pics/throttle_02.jpg (http://www.cofba.org/users/tristanz28/Pics/throttle_02.jpg) ) should be moving together and they aren't. What's going on?

You need the correct mounting stud that goes in the big hole at the far left. that will give more travel, you may need an aftermarket mounting braket to relocate the cable back on the intake rather than using the carb studs?

No, the throttle cable stud (you need this stud- See Edelbrock or Holley- they have them for that type of GM cable end) screws through the smaller hole between the BIG hole up top and the "hook" part of the throttle arm you're currently using. If you are using a mixed bag of throttle cable/throttle cable bracket/aftermarket carb you may need an adjustable throttle cable bracket to make sure you can get all the way from idle to WOT with the amount of travel that the gas pedal/throttle cable provide. But if you first attach the throttle cable to a stud using the hole I describe above you will do fine with nothing more than an adjustable throttle cable bracket (which you may not even end up needing- do the stud first and see how much it improves before you decide on a different throttle cable bracket).

BTW- where's your throttle return spring? You'll take a pretty wild ride the first time you drop it in gear and step on the gas without one!!

That's why your gas pedal is on the floor and has no spring- all the tension you feel normally is from the spring that should be attached to the same end of the throttle lever as the gas pedal cable.
