Hello all,

I have a standard chevy 350 and I am learning to hate the Holley 4150. I am looking to get a new Edelbrock carb, but I am notsure to go with the manual or the electric choke. Any thoughts?

I drop-kicked my Holley into the river a few years ago, and never looked back. I have an Edelbrock (600 cfm?) with the electric choke - it's awesome. After I installed it I meshed around a little with the mixture and idle setup, but ended up going back to the settings it originally had right out of the box. I think you'll be happy with the Edelbrock over the Holley.

I have a 750 manual choke as a matter of fact I have 2. They are excellent to putt around on the street but are garbage for HIGH performance.

Shoot me an email if you are interested in buying....

I'm running 11's with a Edelbrock carb, so they are not garbage for performance use http://www.nastyz28.com/ubb/wink.gif Its just how you tune it, you throw everything you ever thought you knew about a Holley out the window & start over.

Get the electric choke if you ever drive when its below 70* outside. Also check your float settings as soon as you get it, I've probably bought 5 of them in recent years & none have had the floats correct from the factory. Consider a fuel pressure regulator mandatory because they can be picky with pressure. I'd get the 600cfm version for your application. Dont bother wasting the extra money on the Thunder AVS one, there really is no reason for adjustable secondaries on these carbs. The dual fuel inlets are nice, but also not really needed unless its a high rpm application.

I have an Edelbrock 600 with the electric choke, and it works beautifully. The choke really helps me out because I am waaaaay to lazy to work a manual choke.

Don't forget to purchase the tuning kit. I had to, and no matter what it never would tune, even using the "2nd gen tuner's guide" for everyone that "knows" how to tune them. No matter what I couldn't get rid of the off idle stumble, and I for some reason the engine would run better when I used jetting/rod combinations that were OFF THE MAP to the rich side that edelbrock supplies.

Which tuning kit did you get? There are 2. One for the 600 and one for the 750. The 750 is pretty lean from the factory also.

They both come with small shooters, and if you have a lot of plenum volumn they will not be happy unless you up the shooter size. You can buy the shooters from federal mogul in little kits.

Aways check the float setting, and never num more than about 8 psi. You will blow the needle off its seat and it will run bad.

But once you have it setup - you never have to rebuild the damn thing, and it never looses its tune.
