Put some in a bucket of oil (not the trapping bucket http://www.nastyz28.com/ubb/wink.gif)....maybe something sturdy. Set some in and cover the tops with oil. If you have one of those old 'thunka thunka' oil things (like they used on the Tin Man) then squirt oil inside it too, just to be safe.

Why would you soak a soild lifter? Unlike a hydraulic, It is "solid" where would the oil soak in to?

it cant be solid through out oil would never get to the rocker arms. hydro means they self adjust the valve lash through the lifter, . solids need to be adjusted with a specific lash according to the cam. oil goes through both to feed oil to the top of the heads. thanks though

Soaking them will accomplish very little except maybe get oil to the pushrod a bit faster. If you've used assembly lube on the cam- it would be almost irrelevant as to any extra wear on it, especially so as you're using lifters with oil holes drilled on the cam side. Hey, soak 'em, it can't hurt- but not really a big requirement in most cases.
