Hey guys,

What's the best recommended method for cleaning the carbon off the tops of the pistons during a head swap. I'm assuming there's a chemical out there that makes this a snap.

Thanks.

In the car I would say the absolute best thing would be AC Delco top engine clean. A cup and a brush, wipe up with a clean rag. That is how I would do it. Gum Cutter or Non Chlorinated Brake clean(green can) would be my second choices.

There was a thread a while back (different forum) about a guy who used "Simple Green" to clean the combustion chambers...

He shot a few squirts in each plug hole, replaced the plugs and started it up!

His thread was about diagnosing the knocking noise his engine was making.

Regarding the compression; I guess that would be good, since it raise it,,, but it produces HOT point in the cumbustion Chamber and will cause knock!!!???
